A ‘Brewtiful’ New Flavour

In September 2019, The Golden Casket Group launched Iron Brew Millions and a feisty new character – Ron Brew, a small ginger haggis with a wild personality. Iron Brew Millions were created with the company’s Scottish heritage in mind, the company was founded and still operates from Greenock in the west coast of Scotland. The Iron Brew flavour is known as something that is traditionally Scottish and famous for its zingy unique taste. The Golden Casket Groups Warehouse Manager Kenny Malcolm had this to say about the new flavour: “We make them here in the factory and personally I think the new flavour is great! It’s related to Scotland and that’s what we were going for, people in other countries may not know much about the flavour, so it is good that we are getting it out there”. The Golden Casket Group celebrated the launch with a huge £500 giveaway in partnership with Radio Clyde which helped get the new flavour known throughout west and central Scotland.

Iron Brew Millions are available now in shelf-ready cases of 30 x 40g tubes ‘ginger’ coloured outers that introduce new Millions character Ron Brew. The Iron Brew Millions are Vegetarian, Vegan friendly and gluten – free. Sandra Fisher, The Golden Casket Groups Sales and Marketing Director, said this when asked about adding Iron Brew Millions to the range: “We have other Iron Brew products, such as pastilles and bon bons, in our Buchanan’s range, which are hugely popular. It’s an iconic Scottish flavour and one that over the years we’ve always been asked for and so far, the indications are that it’s going to be a very good addition to the Millions Range”. The sales team are working hard to sell Iron Brew Millions into stores nationwide, as well as exporting to countries outside the UK. We at Golden Casket have found Iron Brew Millions to be an excellent addition to the Millions family and will plan to keep the flavour indefinitely.

Launch of Banana Millions – Minions partnership

In August 2019, The Golden Casket Group launched another brand new Millions flavour and partnership – Banana Minions Millions. After working with Universal successfully in the past, The Golden Casket Group were eager to partner up again and create another fantastic product.

Minions are small yellow characters with goggles and blue dungarees which first appeared in Universals Despicable Me franchise in 2010. Since then the Minions have become an entertainment industry powerhouse, grossing $1.59 billion worldwide with their own origin-story film Minions in 2015. In 2016, the Minions became the official mascot of Universal Studios and went on to dominate the social media world with internet memes and hashtags. As a result, Minions have become a staple in global pop culture. Universal used the popularity of these characters as an opportunity to partner with many well-known brands such as; Amazon, Tic Tac, Converse, McDonalds and most importantly – Millions.

Banana Minions Millions can be found in four of The Golden Casket Groups product lines, 30 pack tubes, 18 pack tubes, gift jars and weight out jars. Originally this launch would have went hand-in-hand with the new film Minions 2: The Rise Of Gru, which was due to be released in June 2020 but was pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This will now be released on July 16th 2021.

Golden Casket celebrates 60th Anniversary


Golden Casket is celebrating its 60th birthday by sponsoring an ‘Oor Wullie’ sculpture to raise money for sick kids.

Thoughtful staff at the Greenock confectionery company are marking the firm’s diamond anniversary by supporting the Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail.

It’s billed as Scotland’s first national art trail and will see over 200 Wullie statues go on display before the sculptures are auctioned off to raise funds for children’s hospital charities.

Golden Casket is sponsoring a unique Millions sweets-inspired Oor Wullie, which will be in Glasgow’s Argyle Street from June 17 until the end of August.

They will also donate a mini version of the sculpture to a local school or community centre.

Sandra Fisher, sales and marketing director for the Golden Casket Group, says they are proud to raise money for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and the ARCHIE Foundation.

She said:

“This is a fantastic charity event to raise money for sick children, and we are delighted to be part of this, especially in our 60th year in business.

“Obviously with Millions, it’s children who we sell to so this is an excellent way of giving something back for our 60th anniversary.

“We get to choose the artist who designs the sculpture.”

Kirsten Sinclair, chief operating officer at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, praised Golden Casket for their support.

She said:

“We’re delighted that Golden Casket is involved with Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail by sponsoring their very own sculpture.

“As a company, they have been so enthusiastic, and we hope as many people as possible will get involved with the trail when it hits streets across Scotland this summer.”


Buchanan’s of Scotland celebrates New Year with STV Hogmanay programme sponsorship

Scottish confectionery brand, Buchanans of Scotland, will join STV’s Hogmanay celebrations as programme sponsors with a multi-platform campaign across broadcast and digital.

STV’s special Hogmanay programming will see legendary Scottish pop icon Lulu welcome in the New Year in Lulu’s Hogmanay Hooley , which promises to bring STV viewers a memorable evening of song and festivity.

The campaign, running in December and into January, will include sponsorship bumpers on STV and the STV Player, competition sponsorship and a digital takeover of the homepage. The deal was made by media agency Republic of Media.

Lulu’s Hogmanay Hooley will see Lulu perform some of her biggest hits, joined on stage by her own band and some very special guests – including fellow singer-songwriting sensation KT Tunstall.

From Lulu’s irrepressible debut Shout! to the more recent Every Single Day and classic Hogmanay favourite, Auld Lang Syne, viewers will be treated to a musical extravaganza of much-loved songs from her glittering career.
